International Conference: Transnational Perspectives on Europe’s Extreme Right / 21- 23 October 2025, University of Mannheim, Germany

From 21 to 23 October 2025, the University of Mannheim will host the International Conference for Early-Career Researchers: Transnational Perspectives on Europe’s Extreme Right.
The event will explore how far-right movements and ideologies have circulated across Europe since the 1970s, shaping politics, culture, and society well beyond national borders. By analysing transnational networks, ideological exchanges, and cultural practices – from party politics and violent mobilisations to music, symbols, and intellectual debates – the conference aims to deepen our understanding of the dynamics of Europe’s extreme right.
With a keynote lecture by Massimiliano Livi (University of Trier) on the transformation of neo-conservative and far-right political culture since the 1970s, the programme brings together PhD and post-doctoral researchers to discuss case studies from across the continent. Among them, Sofia Miola (University of Pavia) will present her research on Adriano Romualdi, exploring his role as a key voice in shaping a European far-right identity.
The goal is not only to trace the shared history of radical and extreme right actors but also to identify possible counterstrategies and preventive measures.
📅 Date: 21–23 October 2025
📍 Venue: University of Mannheim, Germany
